Blackwork Journey - New Beginnings

Warrington Branch

1 March 2012 Elizabeth Almond Blackwork Journey – New beginnings

Come and join our branch meeting on 1 March where Elizabeth Almond will share her love of Blackwork Embroidery.

She has worked as an embroiderer, lecturer and tutor for many years and is especially fascinated with blackwork, whitework, counted thread techniques and crochet. Throughout her career she has taught classes in community education, given talks and day schools to groups throughout England, exhibited and worked to commission.

Her recent interests have been in developing alternative approaches to blackwork away from the historical concepts, hence the logo. Islamic architecture and geometric design are major influences on her designs as she has travelled extensively throughout the Middle East and Asia finding inspiration for her most recent work.

Meeting time: 7.30 pm

Fee: £4

Venue:

Padgate Methodist Church, Tidal Lane, Padgate, Warrington WA1 3JU
